The Assets Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce has reported that more than US$6 million and L$800 million were allegedly funneled through the bank accounts of companies linked to Finda Bundoo and daughter Anita Jallah between 2020 and the present.
According to the Taskforce, the transactions raise serious concerns of money laundering and financial impropriety.
Cllr. Martin disclosed that the investigation has so far connected over 40 individuals to the suspicious financial activities. He noted that Finda Bundoo and her daughter remain persons of interest and emphasized that efforts are underway to ensure their arrest.
Cllr. Martin confirmed the arrest of Edward Pun-Pun, an employee of the Ministry of Commerce, for his alleged role in facilitating fraudulent transactions. He added that Saah Johnson, owner of Macycle, a motorcycle trading business, has also been linked to the scheme, with claims that his company was used as a channel for dubious financial flows.
Separate Case: US$800,000 Unaccounted for at Ministry of Foreign Affairs
In a separate development, the Taskforce has referenced an ongoing investigation involving MDMC John Bouboty and Acting Minister Duncan Sawyer regarding the alleged misappropriation of US$800,000 earmarked for renovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the Taskforce, the funds in question cannot be accounted for, prompting further scrutiny.
