The defeat of Mr. Civicus Barsi-Giah in the race for the LFA Executive Committee represents a major setback for progressive football leadership in Liberia. His vision, experience, strong local and international networks, and deep passion for the game represented genuine hope for meaningful transformation within the Liberia Football Association.
With his experience both on and off the pitch, many believed he possessed the leadership capacity, exposure, and valuable connections needed to help reposition Liberian football and create greater opportunities for players, clubs, and the sport as a whole.
While elections naturally produce winners and losers, many of us believe Liberian football missed an important opportunity for bold, innovative, and forward-thinking leadership.
Nevertheless, we respect the outcome of the process and remain committed to supporting every sincere effort aimed at moving Liberian football forward and building a stronger future for the game.

The Return of Former Presidents: A Global Political Shift and Liberia’s Moment
Recent developments in Bulgaria, alongside other parts of the world, continue to highlight a growing reality in modern politics, the return of former leaders to power. Across continents, what once seemed unlikely is now becoming increasingly common: political comebacks driven by public reconsideration and shifting national priorities.
Former presidents making triumphant returns has become one of the most compelling trends in global governance. These moments go beyond ambition; they reflect a deeper public response to unmet expectations, broken promises, and the realities of leadership transitions. In many cases, leaders once heavily criticized are later re-evaluated, as citizens begin to recognize the value of their past leadership.
In Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva staged a historic return, redefining political resilience and redemption. In the United States, Donald Trump made a significant comeback, demonstrating how influence can endure beyond a single term. In Ghana, John Mahama also returned to the presidency, reinforcing this global pattern.
These developments point to one clear truth: when new administrations fail to meet expectations, citizens revisit the past, not out of sentiment alone, but out of comparison, experience, and a renewed assessment of leadership.
In Liberia, this global trend is becoming increasingly relevant. Former President George Weah remains a dominant political figure with a loyal base and enduring national presence.
His administration, like many others around the world, faced criticism and resistance. But as governance cycles evolve, public opinion is shifting, moving from criticism to comparison, and from comparison to reconsideration.
Under the current administration of Joseph Boakai, many Liberians say they are experiencing deepening economic hardship. From rising market prices to persistent unemployment, slowing business activity, and the increasing cost of living, frustration is becoming more visible and more vocal.
The 2025 Global Hunger Index, released in early 2026, classifies Liberia’s hunger level as “serious,” ranking 112th out of 123 countries assessed. Nearly one in three Liberians is undernourished, an alarming reflection of the country’s current reality.
Across the country, concerns continue to mount over governance, economic management, and national direction. Issues such as rising taxes, increasing hardship, allegations of corruption, questionable public spending priorities, institutional breakdown, and growing insecurity have all contributed to a widening trust gap between the government and the people.
From debates about public expenditure and economic policies to concerns about accountability, justice, and the rule of law, many Liberians are now asking difficult questions about leadership and delivery.
The conversation is no longer quiet. It is national. As history has shown globally, moments like this often trigger a shift in political thinking. Citizens begin to reassess the past, not because it was perfect, but because it is now being measured against present realities.
This is how political comebacks are born. Leaders once doubted become leaders reconsidered. Leaders once criticized become leaders compared. And sometimes, leaders once rejected become leaders restored.
The global lesson is clear: political endings are no longer permanent. Leadership today is cyclical, and public trust can be rebuilt, redefined, and restored.
Could Liberia witness a similar comeback? The question is no longer far-fetched, it is already part of a growing national conversation.
From Brasília to Accra, from Washington to beyond, one truth stands out:
when people believe a leader once delivered, they are willing to give that leader another chance.
For Liberia, the future remains unwritten, but the pattern is undeniable.

ENDORSEMENT: Mr. CIVICUS BARSI-GIAH FOR LFA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
I am proud to declare my full and unwavering support for Civicus Siokin Barsi-Giah as a candidate for the Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association.
Civicus Barsi-Giah is not just a name, he is a legacy in Liberian football. A former Liberian international midfielder, widely known as “Arch Bishop,” and a triple champion with Liberia Black Star (2008/2009), his contribution to the game, both on and off the pitch, speaks volumes. His leadership as former President of NPA Anchor FC further demonstrates his deep commitment to the growth, structure, and future of football in Liberia.
Beyond the field, Civicus is a highly accomplished individual. He is an award-winning academic athlete, a recipient of a Creative Leadership Award, and a graduate of St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, where he earned a Master of Science in Leadership and Change. With additional academic achievements in Public Administration and Management (Magna Cum Laude), he represents discipline, excellence, and visionary leadership.
This is a man defined not by noise or arrogance, but by integrity, competence, and a proven track record of results. He brings not only experience, but a clear vision for reform, accountability, and sustainable development within Liberian football.
At this critical time for the sport, we need leaders who understand the game, respect its institutions, and are prepared to deliver measurable progress. The future of Liberian football depends on credible, capable, and forward-thinking leadership.
I therefore call on all stakeholders, First Division, Second Division, and football leaders across the country, to rally behind Hon. Civicus Barsi-Giah and support a candidate who truly represents progress, accountability, and transformation.
He is prepared. He is qualified. He is the right choice.
Vote Mr. Civicus Barsi-Giah for the LFA Executive Committee.

We Reject Boakai's Police Apology on Use of Force and Dehumanization of Chairman Massaquoi & Others; Calls on the International Community to Sanction Gregory Coleman for Turning the Police into a Partisan Force to Satisfy Pres. Boakai while brutalizing the Liberian people
On April 16, 2026, the Police issued a press release and admitted that the officers used excessive force against the youth and students who came to peacefully march on April 14, 2026. I see this as a smokescreen and we reject it vehemently.
I write from a place of deep sadness. I have known Foday N Massaquoi, National Chairman of the CDC-Council of Patriots for the last 10 years as a brother, friend, and deep thinker. Don't be deceived by his morphology. Foday's thoughts are awakening and we saw how he pulled himself together to endorse the SUP April 14 March for Jobs and Justice when many felt it was unthinkable for the CDC-COP and SUP to partner. He did it alongside the National Executive Council of the CDC-COP because of his deep passion to build alliances with any progressive group to hold the government accountable. I talked with Foday daily and he was clear with me before April 6, 2026, the day the CDC-COP issued a press statement endorsing April 14th March for Jobs and Justice and the entire Internet went into sporadic debate.
But on April 14, 2026, when I saw Foday being dragged and dehumanized by Police officers, I saw a strong brother deeply hurt and broken down not because he committed any crime but only because he's vocal and outspoken against contradictions affecting the people. But I don't think April 14 March for Jobs and Justice was only about one individual. We cannot limit it to that. Foday will never appreciate such if he were healthy enough to speak out. Since we wish him a speedy recovery.
Chairman Massaquoi before April 14 March for Jobs and Justice has always said this line: The LNP under Gregory Coleman has killed more innocent Liberians than Malaria has done in the last three years. His logic is, Malaria can be cured when you take medicine but when the police at Gregory's instruction, shot live bullets during the Kinjor Massacre, they killed 3 Liberians citizens to death and instantly.
We, the Liberian people demand the following from President Boakai since the Police have admitted to using force to brutalize ordinary citizens on April 14:
1. Immediate Suspension and Investigation of Gregory Coleman for authorising the use of force against peaceful citizens
2. Immediate investigation of Queen Johnson, Director at the NPA, who was rewarded for killing Joshua Solomon Gbah during the 2023 General elections
3. The urgent investigation of Francis Nyumalin, Local Government Minister and relative to President Boakai, who ordered the brutal murder of Momo Tamba in Lofa County. He's on live video threatening to even kill Hon. Fallah when he was a CDCian
4. Investigation of all domestic violence issues in the country
5. The immediate suspension and prosecution of all the officers who handled students and youths yesterday who came to join the SUP's April 14 March for Jobs and Justice
To our international partners, Gregory has violated all the universal laws that guarantee freedom of assembly in Liberia. His notorious instructions that killed harmless citizens, police officers beat a pregnant woman to death in cells, killed a witness, and shot live bullets at students. President Boakai has never condemned Gregory. He supports this wickedness and we are calling for sanctions against Gregory.
No amount of apology can change the unfortunate wickedness displayed by the Police on April 14, 2026. The Student Unification Party and Chairman Massaquoi need justice and urgent medical attention.

In this video, Foday N Massaquoi, Chairman of the CDC-COP is undergoing initial care at a local community clinic after he fell off last night.
You can see that his hand sprang due to the heavy beating by the LNP Police’s Baton. After he fell off, we took him to the clinic, the caretaker nurse advised that he be taken to an advanced hospital for full testing to know if internal bleeding exists. As we speak, he complains of a severe headache and back pain.
Pray for Chairman Massaquoi as his recovery is more important to us than anything right now. We need all patriotic Liberians' support at about this time. Thanks for your numerous support.
We will overcome this nightmare!

CHAIRMAN MASSAQUOI COLLAPSES AFTER POLICE BRUTALIZATION; Taken to Medical Facility for Urgent Attention
Late last night, Chairman Foday N. Massaquoi suffered a post-traumatic medical condition following his unlawful detention by the Liberia National Police after the April 14 “March for Jobs and Justice.”
The nation saw on live television, CDC-COP Chairman Massaquoi was subjected to severe blunt force trauma, including repeated cranial strikes with a baton and forceful abdominal kicks, mechanisms consistent with internal hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and possible organ contusions.
But the most extreme acts of violence occurred beyond public view. He and others were stripped, held without charge, and deprived of basic medical evaluation, conditions that significantly elevate the risk of delayed intracranial bleeding, hypovolemic shock, and systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS).
Late last night, shortly after returning home, Chairman Massaquoi developed cronic head complaint and later went off after water was wated on his head. He was rushed to a medical facility under emergency conditions.
His condition remains critical as he gets further medical checks but it is sad this is happening. This is no longer just a political issue, it is a medical emergency with potentially fatal consequences.
Pray for Foday N Massaquoi!

This is no longer politics, this is intimidation at the highest level.
Just hours before his arrest, Chairman Foday N Massaquoi made a very serious claim, that President Boakai had instructed that he be silenced, even to the point of death. Today, that same man has been arrested during a peaceful protest.
So Liberians must ask: coincidence or pattern?
A citizen speaks out. He raises concerns about his safety. Then he is picked up by state security. That is not how a democracy behaves, that is how fear is created.
You cannot preach governance and suppress dissent at the same time. You cannot claim to serve the people while cracking down on those demanding jobs, justice, and accountability.
This is bigger than Foday. Today it is him, tomorrow it could be anyone who dares to speak.
I call on the U.S. State Department, through the U.S. Embassy Monrovia, Liberia near Monrovia, and all international partners to take note of this growing pattern and hold the Boakai administration accountable for its crackdown on critics and peaceful voices.
We must not stay silent.
Free Chairman Foday N. Massaquoi now.
