LEC Clarifies Cause of Recent Power Outages
The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has addressed recent blackouts affecting parts of the country, confirming that the disruptions were not
due to load shedding or electricity shortages.
LEC explained that technical trips along the Côte d’Ivoire–Liberia–Sierra Leone–Guinea (CLSG) regional transmission line triggered automatic shutdowns.
The corporation says its protection systems acted to safeguard critical infrastructure and prevent equipment damage.
Technical teams were deployed immediately, restoring power to affected areas.
LEC apologized for the inconvenience and reaffirmed its commitment to improving grid reliability and stable electricity delivery nationwide.
