Yesterday, SATEC Liberia successfully hosted the Audiovisual for Development (AV4Dev) NextGen Conference, bringing together over 70 students, educators, media professionals, development stakeholders, creatives, and government representatives for an inspiring day of learning, dialogue, innovation, and youth engagement.
The conference created a powerful platform for meaningful conversations around how young people can contribute to national development through digital media, communication, innovation, and creative expression.
Through engaging panel discussions, keynote addresses, mentorship interactions, and breakout ideation sessions, students explored critical issues affecting Liberia including gender equality, drug abuse, health awareness, civic engagement, and education; while developing innovative ideas and practical solutions for positive social impact.
We were honored to host an incredible lineup of speakers Hon. Rufus Paul, Assistant Minister for Technical Affairs - Ministry of Information, and Es-Samir Bropleh - Manager, Policy and Strategic Planning - Liberia National Tourism Agency and panelists whose insights challenged, inspired, and empowered participants to think beyond limitations and embrace the opportunities within Liberiaβs growing digital and creative economy.
A major highlight of the event was seeing students confidently share ideas, collaborate with mentors, and begin shaping solutions that can influence communities and drive positive change.
The AV4Dev initiative is more than a conference. It is the beginning of a long-term movement focused on equipping young Liberians with relevant digital, creative, and communication skills while promoting responsible content creation, innovation, leadership, and youth participation in development.
As Liberia continues to embrace digital transformation and expand opportunities within the creative sector, initiatives like AV4Dev are essential in ensuring that young people are prepared not only to participate in the future, but to help shape it.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our partners β Jewel Starfish Foundation, CEPPDEV, Pure Brilliance Advisors, and PAYOWI β along with our keynote speakers, panelists - Shoana Cachelle, Abraham Varney, Barcolleh Poronpyae, and Simeon Ojong , mentors, schools, guests, and every student who contributed to making this initiative impactful and memorable.
This is only the beginning.
To our incredible team, thanks for the great support.
Together, we can build a generation of empowered young Liberians ready to lead, innovate, create opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
