The Liberian Government says it is intensifying efforts to ensure all sectors of the country are aligned with the fast-growing global digital age.
On Monday, May 18, 2026, Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Patrick Honnah, held high-level discussions with Laurent Parente, Director General of the International Mobile Satellite Organization.

According to Commissioner Honnah, the meeting focused on building collaboration with the International Mobile Satellite Organization to boost Liberia’s role in global maritime telecommunications services.

He noted that the initiative will begin by exploring ways the LTA can benefit from the increasing use of telecommunications spectrum and satellite communication services aboard vessels operating under the Liberian flag.

Meanwhile, Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization, Robert Kpadeh, emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between the IMO and the International Telecommunication Union
