Ayomal Dazzles in Diyagama ⚡🇱🇰
19-year-old Ayomal Akalanka from Ambagamuwa Central College becomes the first Sri Lankan in 23 years to break the 50-second barrier in the 400m hurdles — clocking a sensational 49.90 at the All-Island School Games!
He shattered the Sri Lanka Junior Record and the meet record, and now ranks as the 3rd fastest Sri Lankan ever in the event — behind Harjan Rathnayaka (49.44) and Ashoka Jayasundara (49.78).
Trained by Anura Bandara, the coach behind Deputy Sports Minister Sugath Thilakarathne, Ayomal also boasts a 400m PB of 46.29 seconds.
