When visiting the holy town of Kataragama during the holy day of Pooja, I came across four elephants that seemed distressed as they were swaying repetitively side to side. And now I saw why. Chained for amusement and to raise money as elephants are respected so highly in local culture.

Sri Lanka are doing amazing things to protect the wildlife of Elephants and their wellbeing, but there are places where abuse still happens. Think twice before paying to fuel this cruel activity.
