Step Into the Hidden World of an Unheated Sapphire 🔬💙

Healed fingerprint / discoid fracture pattern, sometimes also called a “fingerprint inclusion.”

The inclusion shows a network of tiny polygonal, crack-like cells almost like a dried mud or mosaic pattern. It appears partially iridescent (yellow, orange, reddish flashes) under reflected light, which is common when thin films inside healed fractures create interference colors.

This is frequently seen in natural corundum, including UNHEATED blue sapphires.

The crystal experienced internal stress or fracturing deep in the earth. Later, during natural healing, fluids/minerals filled the fracture, creating this “fingerprint” texture.
