Go Forums
Go forums is providing a politically neutral platform for discussions, Go Forums subsequently advocates the creation of a public sphere that promotes tolerance, empathy, and understanding of various political viewpoints, leadership, and Cambodian governance
The conceptualisation and creation of this project stems from the need to create a public sphere that promotes tolerance, empathy, and understanding of various viewpoints pertaining to Cambodian governance, leadership, human rights, and social justice—issues that remain “sensitive” or “difficult” to be openly discussed in Cambodia. Rather than to outwardly challenge the status quo, this project aims to develop a space in which all Cambodians, irrespective of social standing, ethnicity or gender, will be able to come together to be in conversation with one another, subsequently developing increased community participation based on the freedom of speech and expression. On a larger scale, this project is committed to raising community participation and leadership among youths and students—a group that remains largely underrepresented within Cambodian society. The principles behind this project, therefore, resonates strongly with the Magna Carta Fund for Human Rights and Democracy (MCFHRD) in its commitment to uphold democratic values, widen democratic spaces, and to promote tolerance within the modern nation-state. Subsequently, the UK’s commitment to developing human rights within priority countries such as Cambodia reflects the seriousness of its pledge towards the betterment of human society—a key stance of this project.
♣ This project promotes and fosters open discussions and the sharing of ideas irrespective of social standing, class or gender. The forums are run by young Cambodians, for all Cambodians
