Good afternoon... where are you following from?

🧠YOUR CHILD HAS 4 MINUTES BEFORE BRAIN DAMAGE AND/OR DEATH occurs without oxygen reaching their brain. Let that sink in.

This is my 11 month old son that went quickly from gagging to choking. He was eating something he’s eaten before, but, the difference here was he was recovering from a respiratory illness which made chewing more difficult. This is a real life scenario my family experienced, even as a medical provider and CPR instructor (and especially a mama), there is nothing scarier than when your child stops breathing. Watching this video is difficult for me, but I am grateful it was caught by one of our cameras so that I can talk through it with my students. It fuels my fire to reach as many parents and caregivers of children as I can to teach these lifesaving skills. Choking is life or death, every second counts.

Do you know what to do when your baby becomes silent and chokes? Do you know the difference between gagging and choking and when to intervene with manual maneuvers? (hint: it’s not when the baby is gagging)

Here are some tips:
👶 For babies (kids 1 yr old)- perform j-thrust movements (Heimlich maneuver) until the object comes out or the child becomes unconscious. If child becomes unconscious, begin CPR and call 9-1-1.

Want to learn more and gain experience practicing real life scenarios? Join me for one of my upcoming group classes or schedule a private class! Leave the class prepared, empowered, and ready to save your child’s life! 💪🏼
