Today I had the privilege of visiting the Renal Unit at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Denmark Hill, upon invitation by Prof Ian McDougall and Macharia Gathuru - founder Kidney Research Kenya. I was also in the company of Rachel Gachuma Endoscopy specialist nurse, Mary wangechi Gakuru - Renal specialist nurse

The tour was led by Dr Adam Rumjon, the Consultant Nephrologist. It was an insightful experience seeing firsthand the advanced technology, systems, and patient care within the unit. The visit also offered an opportunity to reflect on what can be improved back home in Kenya, particularly in strengthening renal care services and embracing innovation that can enhance patient outcomes.

I also had the pleasure of visiting the Dulwich Picture Gallery, where Dr. Anna and Prof Ian McDougall graciously invited me for a gallery tour. It was a wonderful experience exploring the rich history, remarkable artwork, and cultural heritage preserved within the gallery.

Experiences like these continue to broaden perspective and inspire meaningful conversations.
