Meet the dik-diks , hailing from the smallest species of antelopes and named after their sharp, nasal "zik-zik" whistle that they blast when they sense danger.

They have a slightly elongated peehensile snout that helps them during feeding as well as a specialized nasal structure that cools and reclaims moisture from exhaled air thus they rarely drink water as they almost get all their moisture from leaves, flowers and fruits.

Unlike most antelopes, dik-diks pair for life. If one dies, the other often stays alone for a long time before pairing up again.

Despite being on everyone's menu, their main defense is being tiny, quiet and insanely fast through think scrub where bigger predators can't follow.
