Yesterday, we joined the Organization of African Youths (OAY) under the Project to better understand the proposed Finance Bill 2026 and contribute towards a memorandum submission before the 25th.
As Persons with Disabilities, we cannot ignore the devastating impact many of these proposed taxes could have on our community. A large percentage of persons with disabilities already live below the poverty line, and additional financial burdens will only deepen exclusion and hardship.
Some of the concerning proposals include:
• Increased M-Pesa transaction charges
• The KSh 100 eCitizen access fee
• Reduced deadlines for tax returns
• Increased taxes on phones and digital applications
• Digital taxes and other rising costs affecting access to essential services
Digital access is no longer a luxury. It is how many persons with disabilities work, learn, communicate, access services, and survive.
We encourage everyone, especially young people and persons with disabilities, to read and understand the Finance Bill 2026 and raise their voices through memorandums and public participation.
Nothing about us without us.

Representation in professional and leadership spaces matters.
Seeing persons with disabilities represented as professionals, creators, leaders, speakers, and entrepreneurs inspires confidence and challenges harmful stereotypes.
Inclusion should not stop at awareness campaigns.
It should be visible in workplaces, boardrooms, events, and opportunities.

We joined News Light Kenya in their Access 4 Safe initiative to enlighten and help better protect themselves from online harms like , and .
From the participants present, a lot of persons with disabilities had fallen prey to these digital tricks.
Let's continue ensuring a society where persons with disabilities are digitally woke.

Today was deeply personal and powerful. 💛
Our lead Nyambura Caterina had the honor of joining Y254 TV to speak about Mental Health for Persons with Disabilities, not just as an advocate, but as someone who has lived through silent battles.
"There was a time I struggled quietly, fought dark thoughts alone, and survived moments I never thought I would overcome. Today, I stand not as a victim of my past, but as proof that healing, purpose, and hope are possible."
Through conversations like these, we continue breaking the silence around among persons with disabilities and reminding others that their lives matter, their stories matter, and help is not weakness.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to also speak about the work we are doing through Enabled Initiative and Dicep Dicep in creating safer, more inclusive spaces for persons with disabilities to heal, grow, and thrive.
To anyone silently struggling: Please stay. Your story is not over yet. 🤍
Thank you Y254 Tv for creating space for these important conversations.

Climate action is not only about large organizations and global conferences.
It is also about:
🌱 Community awareness
🌱 Sustainable habits
🌱 Inclusive conversations
🌱 Youth leadership
🌱 Supporting vulnerable communities
🌱 Creating accessible opportunities
Small actions, when done consistently, create meaningful impact.
Everyone has a role to play.
