Most people start their day by checking emails. That's actually one of the worst things you can do , and here's why.
Your brain is at its sharpest in the first 60 to 90 minutes after you wake up. That is your golden hour. The time when your focus is clearest, your thinking is deepest, and your energy is at its peak.
But the moment you open your inbox , you hand that golden hour to everyone else.
Suddenly you are responding to someone's urgent request. Reacting to a problem that wasn't yours this morning. Thinking about someone else's priorities before you have even touched your own.
Here is what I do instead:
I spend the first hour of my day on the ONE task that actually moves things forward. The proposal I need to finish. The system I am building. The skill I am learning. Whatever matters most that day , that gets my best brain.
Emails come after. And guess what, nothing burned down while I was focused.
Try it tomorrow. Wake up, do not touch your phone, and spend the first hour on something that belongs to YOU.
Then check your emails.
Small shift. Completely different day.
Has anyone tried this? Tell me how your mornings usually start
The hardest part of working remotely is not the work. It is convincing yourself to start. π

The moment you start learning new skills:
Week 1 β I have no idea what I am doing.
Week 5 β I kind of get it.
Week 10 β why didn't anyone tell me about this sooner.
The only thing standing between you and your next level is showing up. π
What skill are you learning right now? Drop it below π

10 weeks ago I made a decision. Today I have a certificate to show for it.
I didn't come from a background in business or tech. I just knew I had something to offer β and I needed the skills to back it up.
So I enrolled in the ALX Virtual Assistant program and spent 10 weeks learning, showing up exhausted, and finishing anyway.
Then one morning I opened my email like I do every single day and there it was:
"Congratulations β here is your Certificate of Completion."
I just sat there for a moment.
Because it wasn't just a certificate. It was proof that I chose myself and followed through.
Here is what I am now equipped to do:
π₯ Email & Inbox Management β sorting, flagging, responding and keeping communication clean and organised
π
Calendar & Schedule Management β booking meetings, avoiding conflicts and making sure nothing is missed
π Data Entry & Organisation β accurate, structured and always where it needs to be
π Document Preparation β drafting, formatting and preparing documents before you even ask
π Research β gathering information, summarising findings and saving you hours of digging
π± Social Media Scheduling β planning and scheduling content using tools like Metricool so your presence stays consistent
βοΈ Workflow Optimisation β identifying gaps in your processes and helping build systems that actually work
I am not here to chase a title. I am here to be useful, to learn in real environments, and to contribute meaningfully from day one.
I am currently open to:
β
Remote job opportunities
β
Internships
β
Volunteering roles
If you are building something and need someone reliable, organised, and genuinely invested in helping things run smoothly β I would love to be part of it.
