The history of the Turkana woman is deeply intertwined with the rich cultural heritage of the Turkana people of northwestern Kenya.

Although Turkana society is patriarchal, women have always had a strong presence in decision-making within families and clans.

Despite facing challenges such as limited access to education, early marriages, and harsh climatic conditions, Turkana women have shown remarkable resilience.
