A young martial arts student, eager to excel, approached a renowned master with a burning question.
"How long will it take me to master this craft?" he asked. The master replied, "Ten years."

Frustrated, the student insisted, "But I want to master it faster! I’ll work harder than anyone, practice for hours every day, and give it my all. How long will it take then?"

The master smiled and replied, "Twenty years."😃😃

At first glance, this response might leave you puzzled. Why would devoting extra time and effort delay progress?

Welcome to the law of reversed effort—sometimes called the backward law. It’s a paradoxical principle that states: the harder we consciously try to achieve something, the less likely we are to succeed.

Think of someone drowning. The more they struggle to stay afloat, the more they sink. But if they relax and stop fighting, they naturally rise to the surface. Strange, isn’t it? That’s how the law of reverse effort works. The harder we try to force things, the worse they often get.

Why is it that when we desperately want something—a dream job, a relationship, or even a good night’s sleep—it seems to slip further from our grasp?

Yet when we ease up, letting go of the obsession with outcomes, things often fall into place effortlessly. The book you wrote without overthinking becomes a bestseller. The partner you longed for appears when you least expect it. The job you chased for years lands in your lap when you’ve stopped stressing about it.

Ancient Chinese philosophers understood this paradox and named it wu wei, meaning “effortless action” or “trying not to try.” It’s not about doing nothing; it’s about aligning your efforts with the natural flow of life, giving your best without clinging to the results.

When we focus too much on control and outcomes, we invite stress, anxiety, and dissatisfaction. But when we let go—trusting the process and working with the universe rather than against it—we open the door to unexpected success.

BY AGE 40 YOU SHOULD BE SMART ENOUGH TO REALIZE THIS:

1. Someone makes 10x more than you do in a 9-5 job because they have more "leverage" with their work.

2. Distraction is the greatest killer of success. It stunts and destroys your brain.

3. You shouldn't take advice from people who are not where you want to be in life.

4. No one is coming to save your problems. Your life's 100% your responsibility.

5. You don't need 100 self-help books, all you need is action and self discipline.

6. Unless you went to college to learn a specific skill (ie. doctor, engineer, lawyer), you can make more money in the next 90 days just learning sales.

7. No one cares about you. So stop being shy, go out and create your chances.

8. If you find someone smarter than you, work with them, don't compete.

9. Smoking has 0 benefit in your life. This habit will only slow your thinking and lower your focus.

10. Comfort is the worst addiction and cheap ticket to depression.

11. Don't tell people more than they need to know, respect your privacy.

12. Avoid alcohol at all cost. Nothing worse than losing your senses and acting a fool.

13. Keep your standards high and don't settle for something because it's available.

14. The family you create is more important than the family you come from.

15. Train yourself to take nothing personally to save yourself from 99.99% of mental problems.
