Today is the release anniversary of 'The Gentle Island' that is the 4th album from Tokyo Ambient Collective, an ambient music project established by Tokyo-based international artists. This is non-fixed member project and several artists join the sessions irregularly.

This album was created by two of the founder members; Takahiro Kido, a composer who works as a member of Anoice, and Kenji Azuma, an instrumentalist who plays various unusual instruments from around the world, and Yuki Murata, a pianist/composer and a member of Anoice, and Calu, the vocalist of an electronica unit, Matryoshka.

One of the biggest key ingredients of the album are the nostalgic sounds created on music boxes on which the members composed melodies by themselves, an upright piano with its soft pedal, and old vintage synthesizers, but by their adding subtle vocals and the environmental sounds which they recorded in Taiwan during their improvisation sessions, this album turned to the quietest and gentlest work of their career. You should be able to feel the soft breeze and warm rain on the southern island and the interactions of humans and animals via each sound.

This is non-fixed member project and several artists join the sessions irregularly, but Takahiro Kido from Anoice joined this album togehter with Kenji Azuma and Sami Elu.

Those airy and beautiful sounds recorded with GANK Drums, Karimba, Pixiechord, Synthesizer, Glockenspiel, etc. which they each brought, might be able to heal your hearts damaged by this contemporary society with overridden information.
