風呂敷 Furoshiki, the Japanese culture of wrapping.
Originated from the Muromachi period (1336-1573), its name comes from “furo no shikimono” which means “bath rug” — cloths once laid out in bathhouses to protect the skin from the heat.
By the Edo period (1603–1867), they were used by merchants to wrap and carry goods, eventually becoming a symbol of everyday care and intention in Japanese life.
A quiet reminder to wrap things and moments — with respect and thoughtfulness.
