We are excited to kick off our CHLP Summer Interns series!
Meet Ava Glicksberg, back at CHLP for her second summer in a row ☀️

Ava came to disability rights advocacy through experience beyond coursework. Before joining CHLP, she worked with adults and children with developmental disabilities through the Arc of Essex County, and later volunteered in Greece, where she met a displaced child with a learning disability who could not access the educational support he needed.
“I saw firsthand the importance of advocating for accessible, equitable, and stable educational opportunities that allow students to succeed.”

That conviction carries into her work at CHLP, where she focuses on housing advocacy and sees daily how much a stable home influences everything else in a client's life.
“I've witnessed the impact that secure housing can have on an individual's life. Legal advocacy plays a critical role in helping people remain housed.”

She hopes the next chapter for New Jersey's disability community brings fewer barriers to housing, benefits, and education for everyone who needs them. We are glad to have Ava back for another summer!

We're Growing! Staff Attorney Opportunities at Community Health Law Project ⚖️

Thanks to expanded programming, CHLP is hiring three full-time Staff Attorneys to join our teams in Bloomfield, Elizabeth, and Neptune.
For 50 years, CHLP has been New Jersey's statewide nonprofit advocacy and legal services organization, standing with low-income individuals who have disabilities, chronic health conditions, and the frail elderly. We fight for clients navigating housing crises, fighting for vital benefits, accessing essential healthcare, and more.
Our attorneys are advocates, problem solvers, and lifelines for people who are too often overlooked.

Qualifications: ▪ JD from an ABA-accredited law school ▪ NJ Bar license ▪ Strong legal writing and advocacy skills ▪ Commitment to disability justice ▪ Experience in civil legal services preferred

Salary: $75,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience
