✨ Zoe Williams at : Williams blends the erotic, craft, magic, gender, hedonism and excess to provoke conversations around the pressures of power, the politics of s*x and the economics of production.

✨Anastasia Sosunova at : her work focuses on the ways in which communities and identities are formed, subsist and come undone.

✨Giuliana Rosso at : her work investigates broad themes of transition, fragility, and anxiety, often set in relation with folk imaginaries, altered states, and alternative realities.

✨ Saša Tkačenko at : His artistic practice engages spaces and their transformation when exposed to other media, creating situations inspired by popular culture and contemporary human life.

✨ Kate Newby at : her work tends to be site-specific, emphasising the handmade as a way of communicating lived experience through objects furnished with the evidence of their making.

Art Fair is currently celebrating its 10th anniversary 🚀With the long overdue rise in appreciation and demand for African Art in the past few years, this fair presents an opportunity to see the most tantalisingly current presentations of art from the expansive continent, and its diaspora.✨

The 2021 London edition, saw both household names such as Zanele Muholi, Mounir Fatmi and Gonçalo Mabunda exhibiting work as well as emerging and early to mid-career artists such as John David Nkot who currently has +9️⃣% Momentum, Mous Lamrabat who now has +2️⃣1️⃣% Momentum and Marc Padeu who has +2️⃣4️⃣% Momentum. With such high figures, it shows the fair always offers exciting artists to be discovered.🔎

There are stunning works to be discovered at this edition, but we’ve chosen three African galleries, including two young galleries, with presentations that particularly caught our attention, and that feature artists with positive momentum.⚡️

Q&A with Omar Kholeif, 1-54 Forum London 2022 Curator 14/10/2022

With 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair returning to Somerset House, London, to celebrate its 10th-anniversary edition, we were delighted to catch up with the curator of 1-54 FORUM, an extensive programme of film screenings, performances, panel discussions, and much more.

One of the most prolific creators of their generation, Omar Kholeif, has authored, co-authored, or edited 41 books; curated 63 exhibitions; and commissioned over 100 works of art, realised on six continents.
