Milestone Rome

The Octagonal Hall of the Museo Nazionale Romano has a complex and varied history, whose stratification is reflected in the present state of the architecture.
Belonging to the same complex of the Baths of Diocletian, built under Emperor Maximian between 298 and 306 AD, the hall is covered by a majestic “umbrella dome” (“a ombrello”) with a diameter of about 22 meters, one of the largest in the Roman world.
