How long did it take to source the perfect activewear t-shirt fabric? We hardly remember, but instead of rushing it, we bided our time. The prerequisites were pretty clear though. We didn't want that shiny, thin feeling everyone else is using for the running or training tees. We were aiming for something that, to the highest extent, mimics the feeling of our favorite skate brands' heavy-weight cotton tee but with performance traits that would cool you down and keep you dry whenever you go all-in, instead of getting completely drenched with sweat. A fabric that would have that heavy feel and still breathe, wick moisture away, and dry fast. It took almost 2 years. We checked hundreds of fabric swatches from the Baltics, France, Turkey, Vietnam, Canada, Japan, just to name a few countries. Finally, we stumbled upon a 197gsm spun polyester fabric from a small mill that fit the bill perfectly. This family-owned business was founded in 1952 and is located in the sleepy Prato district, just outside of Florence, Italy.
