Ogni anno il 15 maggio si svolge a Gubbio la Corsa dei Ceri, un evento che risale addirittura al 1160! I Ceri stessi sono tre strutture lignee che portano le statue dei Santi Ubaldo, Giorgio e Antonio. La partenza della corsa inizia con l'Alzata dei Ceri, che si traduce in "Elevazione dei Ceri", e le strutture vengono poi trasportate per le strade di Gubbio fino alla cima del Monte Ingino, dove si svolge una celebrazione in loro onore.
The Ceri Race takes place in Gubbio every year on May 15th, an event which dates right back to 1160! The Ceri themselves are three wooden structures that carry the statues of the Saints Ubaldo, George and Anthony. The start of the race commences with the Alzata dei Ceri, which translates to the 'Elevation of the Ceri', and the stuctures are then carried through the streets of Gubbio to the top of Mount Ingino, where a celebration takes place in their honour..... ! l'Umbria vi aspetta .... Umbria the new Dolce Vita !
