Skoda & Volkswagen Recall Announcement in India
Skoda and Volkswagen India have announced a recall of their vehicles due to safety concerns in the rear seatbelt assembly.
According to the recall data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), a voluntary recall of 47,235 vehicles has been issued by Skoda and Volkswagen, including 25722 units of Skoda's Kylaq, Kushaq and Slavia models and 21513 units of Volkswagen's Taigun and Virtus models.
The vehicles covered under the recall were manufactured between May 24, 2024 and April 1, 2025. The recall will commence from May 1, 2025. According to the company, in the event of a frontal collision, there is a risk that the rear seatbelt buckle may break, and the rear center seatbelt assembly webbing may also break along with the rear right seatbelt buckle. This poses a safety risk to passengers sitting in the rear of the vehicle.
