Shawarma is a very popular Middle Eastern street food which originated in Turkey. Also known as shawurma or shawerma, means“turning” in Arabic, and it gets this name due to the cooking method where the vertical spit technique is used.

The meat is marinated with middle-eastern spices, perfectly grilled and wrapped in soft fluffy pita bread. Each bite of Shawarma bursts with flavours, thanks to the luscious pomegranate molasses, creamy hummus and tahini sauce, spicy harissa, and a medley of fresh, vibrant veggies.

This delicious dish
with its rich flavors and mouthwatering aromas, is simply irresistible and has been my favourite among the Middle Eastern street food which is what prompted me to try out my homemade version!

Shahi Tukra, a desert item is particularly enjoyed during Ramadan, for iftar and especially on Eid, to celebrate the end of the month of fasting. Shahi tukda means “royal piece.”
This dish has some similarity with the bread pudding! To prepare this dessert, bread is deep-fried in ghee, soaked in sugar syrup, and then piled high with rabri and dried fruit and nuts.
In Hyderabad, it is called double ka meetha, and it is baked after the rabri and the double roti (Western-style leavened bread) are combined.
Generally, the garnishing is done with shiny silver warq ( edible thin silver leaf) and nuts like almonds and pistachios along with saffron since it is often served during special occasions like Eid, weddings, and other celebrations and festivals!
