Hello everyone
Ayurveda & Thyroid
According to Ayurveda, thyroid disorders are lifestyle-related conditions linked to digestive fire (Agni). The thyroid gland regulates metabolism, heart health, liver function, skin health, and mental well-being by secreting T3 and T4 hormones.
*Hypothyroidism (Underactive Thyroid)*
*Dosha Imbalance: Kapha & Vata* dominance → Slows digestion.
Symptoms:
Weight gain & facial swelling
Fatigue, joint & muscle pain
Dry skin, hair fall & memory issues
Sensitivity to cold & menstrual irregularities
*Ayurvedic Remedies:*
✔ Herbal Mix: Sonth (dry ginger), black pepper, pippali churna – take with buttermilk or warm water.
✔ Fresh Ginger & Rock Salt before meals.
✔ Light Diet: Include millets, avoid kidney beans, chickpeas, milk, and curd.
*Ayurvedic Therapies:*
✔ Nasya Therapy with sesame oil.
✔ Pranayama & Neck Exercises to stimulate the thyroid gland.
---
Hyperthyroidism (Overactive Thyroid)
*Dosha Imbalance: Pitta & Vata dominance* → Increases metabolism.
Symptoms:
Weight loss & palpitations
Nervousness, anxiety & irritability
Tremors, muscle weakness & excessive sweating
Menstrual irregularities
Ayurvedic Remedies:
✔ Never skip meals; avoid fasting.
✔ Include Cow Ghee to balance Pitta & Vata.
✔ Add Black Raisins, Amla & Shatavari Churna to diet.
✔ Abhyanga (Massage) with coconut oil.
✔ Nasya Therapy with cow ghee or coconut oil.
✔ Practice Meditation & Pranayama (Anuloma Viloma, Bhastrika).
---
Final Tip:
*Both hypothyroidism & hyperthyroidism affect Agni (digestion), metabolism, and mental health, leading to hormonal imbalances. A balanced lifestyle & diet can help regulate thyroid function naturally.*

According to Ayurveda, in gout, it is advised to avoid kulith (horse gram) and urad dal as they may aggravate the condition. Instead, opt for old grains and pulses like moong, masoor, tur, and matki. These pulses should be soaked properly before cooking and prepared with cow ghee to aid digestion and reduce the risk of gout flare-ups.
