📱 Can we protect children online by simply keeping them offline?

The growing call to ban social media for children under 16 stems from genuine concerns. Rising screen time, cyberbullying, harmful content, addictive algorithms, and increasing reports of anxiety among young users have compelled governments across the world to rethink children's relationship with digital platforms.

But the debate is more complex than it appears.

For many young people, social media is not merely entertainment. It is where they learn, build communities, discover opportunities, access mental health resources, and express themselves. For marginalised children and adolescents, these spaces can sometimes offer the support that may not exist offline.

The real question, therefore, is not simply whether children should be allowed on social media, but what kind of digital ecosystem we are creating for them.

Can regulation alone address problems that originate in platform design? Should technology companies be held to higher standards for child safety? How do parents, schools, governments, and digital platforms share the responsibility of protecting children without restricting their ability to participate in the digital world?

A ban may reduce exposure, but it cannot replace digital literacy, responsible platform governance, and informed parenting.

As societies become increasingly digital, safeguarding children requires more than restrictions—it requires building an internet designed with children's wellbeing at its centre.

Do you believe age restrictions are the answer, or should governments focus on making social media platforms safer by design?

Vehicles were left buried under debris after a landslide triggered by heavy rainfall near the 540 MW Kwar Power Project in Jammu & Kashmir. While such incidents are often seen as isolated disasters, they also underscore a growing reality: extreme rainfall events are becoming more frequent and more destructive, especially in ecologically fragile Himalayan regions.

As climate variability intensifies, are we doing enough to build resilience where it matters most?

A water tanker swallowed by a collapsed road in Surat. A biker seriously injured after falling into a rain-filled pothole in Junagadh. Multiple accidents at the same spot in a single day.*

These are not isolated incidents. They are symptoms of a larger urban infrastructure crisis.

Every monsoon, roads cave in, potholes disappear beneath floodwater, and commuters pay the price for poor construction, delayed repairs, and inadequate accountability. While cities expand and infrastructure budgets grow, the basic promise of safe roads continues to remain uncertain for millions of citizens.

The question is no longer whether roads will fail during the rains, but why the same failures continue to repeat year after year.

💭 *Should independent infrastructure audits become mandatory after every monsoon season?*

As temperatures soared across Europe, Berlin authorities deployed water cannons to spray fine mist over city streets, offering residents relief from the intense weekend heat wave. The scenes serve as a stark reminder that extreme heat is no longer an occasional weather event—it is increasingly becoming a public health and urban resilience challenge. Cities around the world are being forced to adapt to rising temperatures through emergency measures, cooling infrastructure, and climate-responsive planning.

As heat waves become more frequent and severe, the question is no longer whether cities should prepare, but whether they are prepared enough.

Goa's Water Crisis: A Growing Concern Beneath the Tourist Paradise

Known for its beaches, rivers, and monsoon abundance, Goa is increasingly facing a paradox—water scarcity in a state surrounded by water.
Rapid urbanisation, rising tourism demand, groundwater depletion, changing rainfall patterns, and growing pressure on local water resources are leaving many communities struggling with unreliable water access, especially during peak summer months.

The challenge is no longer just about availability; it is about sustainable management, equitable distribution, and ensuring that economic growth does not come at the cost of long-term water security. As climate change intensifies and demand continues to rise, Goa's water crisis raises an important question:
Can one of India's wettest states secure its water future before scarcity becomes the new normal?
