What is SSB?
The Service Selection Board was set up to test the capability, and evaluate the personality and eligibility of aspiring defence aspirants. The core principle of SSB has been derived from the mantra of- Mansa, Vacha, and Karmana, and candidates are tested on these traits. Mansa means thoughts, Vacha means speech, and Karmana means deeds or actions. In the SSB 5 Days Procedure, a battery of Psychological Tests, Interviews, and Group Tests are conducted to evaluate the qualities of the candidates. Along with these traits, specific Officer Like Qualities are expected to be present in candidates to get recommended by SSB. We have talked about these qualities below.

Stage-1 Testing

1. Screening:

The screening process is to pick up some potential candidates from all those who have reported for the particular entry. It consists of few activities like:

OIR Test:

Also known as officers’ intelligence rating test, it is a Verbal and Non-verbal Test. If you are preparing for the OIR Test and PPDT, you can get the best OIR Test book here. OIR Test is a basic appitute test but it is always good to go well prepared, you can check some verbal and non-verbal sample questions here. After this test you will get some rest, and later proceed for PPDT.

Reporting Day: The day of reporting at the SSB board, followed by document check and form filling [PIQ forms]. You are supposed to report at the place mentioned in the call letter, mostly you are asked to report at MCQ [Moment Control Office]. You will not find any difficulty in doing so because there will be candidates who would report on the same day as you, so you may find one or two.

Why Navy Day on December 4?

Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year on December 4 to commemorate the attack on the Karachi harbour during the India-Pakistan war in 1971. On this day, the Indian Navy's attack on Karachi harbour contributed to the ultimate victory of the Indian Armed Forces over Pakistan
