Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Saturday as he interacted with doctors of BMC-run hospitals. He praised the doctors for their continuous fight over the last two months to contain the outbreak, and exuded confidence that the task would be accomplished.Maharashtra on Saturday reported 2,608 new cases of COVID-19, taking the total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the state to 47,190. With 60 deaths reported in a day, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in the state now stands at 1,577.Mumbai alone has a total of 28,817 COVID-19 cases out of which 949 people have lost their lives to the virus so far. The nationwide tally of COVID-19 cases crossed 1.3 lakh on Sunday with over 6,000 new cases getting detected. More than one lakh people have tested positive for the deadly virus infection and over 3,000 have lost their lives in the past one month itself.
