A good news for Indians who wanted Indian cities to feature in Google Street View. A Mumbai-based firm is developing the Indian version of Google Street view called WONOBO. Unlike the Google Street view, which is struggling for the access to take pictures of Indian city streets, Wonobo has Street View similar view for 12 major Indian Cities and looking to expand the number to 54
Wonobo was the product of the company Genesys International which was founded by two brothers Sol and Sajid Malik, in 1995. The company had been working with the government for many years for their mapping services.
“We are the first urban chronicle of today’s India, having mapped panoramic imagery of thousands of square kilometers and close to 10 million places of interest across the country. We are confident that Wonobo will be a major value creator for an entirely new ecosystem of businesses in the years to come,” said Sajid Malik, CMD, Genesys International
As I accessed the site as soon as I heard the news the Site is little wacky in performance, but the company assured it will be fully functional in a day or two.
The CMD also said they will develop a mobile APP soon.
