Honestly, I thought I’d only get to see from afar on stage when I noticed he was attending the ICFK.
But when he walked in and sat right in front of me, I was genuinely surprised. It was nice getting to talk to him for a bit — someone whose Arabic calligraphy I’ve admired for so long.

A little later, the person next to him asked for his name to be written. I was just watching and recording, completely absorbed… and then he smiled and offered to write my name too — took a sheet from the same person and started writing. 😇

Two years ago, I’d done a Brush Calligraphy workshop at his studio in Calicut. Never imagined meeting him in real like this — simple, unexpected, and really special.
