Kuki-Zo MLAs Decide to Join Any New Popular Government

The ten Kuki-Zo MLAs have reached a collective decision: they will join any new popular government formed after President’s Rule ends in Manipur.
The resolution was made during the Kuki Zo Council’s general conference held on November 15, 2025, in Guwahati. The meeting focused on whether the MLAs should participate in a new Ministry and how this aligns with the ongoing demand for Separate Administration.
While some delegates argued that joining a new government without a clear statement from the Centre could weaken the demand for Separate Administration, others insisted that being inside the government would give the Kuki-Zo leadership more leverage and influence.
After long deliberations, the MLAs reached a consensus: under the present circumstances, the Kuki-Zo MLAs will join any new popular Ministry that is formed.
Seven of the ten MLAs attended the conference, along with leaders from major Kuki-Zo bodies, SoO and non-SoO groups, volunteers, women’s organisations, and civil society representatives.
The decision is expected to significantly shape Manipur’s political trajectory in the coming months.
