Kandla was established as India's first Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Businesses operating within the zone can benefit from exemptions from customs and excise duties.
Strategic Location:
Located on the Gulf of Kutch, Kandla is a major port on the west coast of India.
Historical Significance:
The port was developed in the 1950s to serve as a key port for western India, particularly after the partition of India, which led to the loss of the port of Karachi.
