📢 Village Road or Death Trap? — The Harsh Reality of Mandaidih (Ward No. 11), Vaishali
🚨 Residents of Mandaidih Village (under Patepur Block, Vaishali District, Bihar) are forced to risk their lives every day just to travel on a road that has turned into a dangerous swamp.
Here’s the current state of the road:
Completely waterlogged and muddy
Deep, open potholes
Entirely impassable during the rainy season
👨👩👧👦 Children are unable to reach school safely
🚑 Medical emergencies are often delayed
🚲 Even bicycles and motorcycles can't pass without risk
📍 Location:
From the home of Shakkal Rai (near Durga Mandir, Goachak) to the home of Binda Rai, passing through Teli Tola (residences of Sunil Sah, Vinod Bhagat, Suresh Prasad Singh, and others)
🧱 Development schemes like PMGSY and MMGSY appear to exist only on paper — there is no visible implementation on the ground!
📸 See these real images — is this what we call “development”?
🙏 We demand that:
➡️ The Rural Works Department conduct an urgent inspection
➡️ Road construction or repair be prioritized under suitable schemes
➡️ Information about any approved or pending road projects in this area be made transparent

Severe Road Neglect in Mandaidih Village, Vaishali: Residents Demand Urgent Government Action
Vaishali, Bihar – July 20, 2025:
Residents of Mandaidih Village in Ward No. 11, under the Patepur block of Vaishali district (PIN 843110), are raising a strong outcry over the severely dilapidated state of their local roads. The issue, long ignored by authorities, has now prompted local citizen Priyaranjan Kumar to formally escalate the matter to key government officials, demanding immediate intervention.
The affected stretch extends from the residence of Shakkal Rai near the Durga Mandir in Goachak to the home of Binda Rai, passing through the Teli Tola locality—home to residents such as Sunil Sah, Vinod Bhagat, and Suresh Prasad Singh. Despite its critical importance for daily commuting, medical access, and educational transit, this road remains in a completely unusable condition, especially during the monsoon season.
Photos submitted by Kumar depict a road overtaken by deep mud, stagnant water, and even dangerous open pits. The path is clearly unmotorable, with even bicycles and motorcycles struggling to pass safely. These conditions pose serious risks to schoolchildren, the elderly, and anyone in need of emergency medical attention.
In his official complaint emailed to central and state authorities—including the Minister of Rural Works, BSRRDA, and the Chief Minister’s Office—Kumar highlighted that despite numerous schemes like PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) and MMGSY (Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Yojana), no progress has been made for this specific location.
"This road is not just a path; it’s a lifeline for the people here. The apathy of concerned departments has left residents frustrated and helpless," said Kumar in his letter.
He has requested:
A field inspection by Rural Works Department engineers.
Public disclosure of any sanctioned or pending projects for this area.
Prioritized repair and construction of the road under any applicable schemes (PMGSY, MMGSY, BSRRDA).
The shared map coordinates of the affected region are:
Start: 25.830892, 85.503454
Via: 25.833034, 85.504677
End: 25.832742, 85.508223
Residents warn that if no steps are taken, they will be forced to escalate the matter further through RTI applications, grievance redressal forums, and possibly the Lokayukta.
This case underscores the broader infrastructure challenges that persist in many rural parts of Bihar, where lack of road connectivity continues to hinder development and quality of life. Authorities are yet to respond to the formal complaint, but local pressure is mounting.
Reporter’s Note:
The images received from Mandaidih speak louder than words. With monsoon rains only worsening the terrain, the question remains—how long will citizens of rural India have to wait for a basic right like all-weather road access?
👉 Please share this post to raise awareness and help bring attention to this long-ignored issue.
