Delhi Declares November 25, 2025, as Public Holiday for Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s 350th Shaheedi Diwas

The Delhi government has announced that November 25, 2025, will be a public holiday to honor the 350th Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom day) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the ninth Sikh Guru. This day marks his supreme sacrifice to protect humanity and uphold the freedom of religion.

On this day, government offices, boards, corporations, and institutions under GNCTD will remain closed. Citizens are encouraged to use this time to remember and pay tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s teachings and sacrifice.

All government-run schools will remain closed, and many private schools are expected to follow suit. Families and communities may organize prayers and commemorative events to honor the Guru.

Essential services, however, will continue to operate. This includes the Delhi Metro, buses, taxis, and government hospitals, ensuring that critical services remain uninterrupted for the public.

The decision was announced by the Delhi Chief Minister via the official CMO X account, emphasizing the importance of remembering Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib’s commitment to protecting humanity and religious freedom.
