Skill Yatra – Phase III, under Assam Skill Development Mission was officially launched at Biswanath College in the presence of district officials, faculty members, and departmental representatives.

The programme was graced by Dr. Chinta Mani Sharma, Principal, Madhurjya Kumar Parasar, Circle Officer, Biswanath, along with representatives from IQAC, ASDM, Employment Exchange, and faculty members from the Departments of Zoology and Political Science.

Addressing the students, Dr. Chinta Mani Sharma Principal, shared the vision and objectives of Skill Yatra, emphasizing its role in career development. Shri Madhurjya Kumar Parasar, Circle Officer, Biswanath highlighted emerging opportunities in tea tourism, the Skill India Mission, graphic designing, and government services, stressing the importance of career-oriented skill pathways.

The event concluded with the formal flagging off of the Skill Yatra Van, marking the beginning of district-level outreach activities aimed at empowering Assam’s youth.

Skill Yatra Phase III initiated by Assam Skill Development Mission has been successfully concluded in Sribhumi (24th district ) and Majuli (25th district).

The programme was formally launched at Nabinchandra College in Sribhumi and at Majuli University of Culture in Majuli, followed by on-ground sessions conducted across various institutes in both districts, including skill and career awareness activities and digital psychometric assessments.

With the completion of implementation in these districts, Skill Yatra continues its expansion across Assam, strengthening career awareness and promoting future-ready skills among students.

A student outreach programme was conducted at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati on 13 February 2026 under the state engagement initiative, “Linking India–EU Migration Opportunities and the North-East Corridor.” The event sought to enhance awareness of higher education and student mobility options available across European Union member states.

The programme was graced by Smt. Gina Uika, Joint Secretary, Emigration Policy and Welfare Division, MEA, Govt. of India, Ms. Michiko Miyamoto, Country Director, International Labour Organization (ILO) and other representatives from the Delegation of the European Union to India, together with officials from Germany, Italy, International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) shared insights on academic courses, scholarship opportunities, visa procedures, and post-study career pathways in Europe. Interactive discussions helped students identify credible information sources, evaluate study opportunities, and make informed academic and career decisions.

The sessions underscored the importance of safe and regular migration channels while promoting stronger academic collaboration between India and the European Union. The programme drew active participation from students and faculty, reflecting keen interest in global education and career prospects.

Assam Skill Development Mission was proud to be part of session 2 of the India–EU Cooperation & Dialogue on Migration and Mobility (CDMM), focusing on strengthening India–EU migration linkages, particularly through the North-East corridor.
