301 Redirections still work like crazy and here is how I do it:

1. Find the domain which has at-least 200 referring domains. (3-4 authority links are even fine, but make sure referring domains number is high)

2. Niche of this domain doesn't really matters, but in order to minimize the risk, try finding relevant domains.

3. Buy a domain and keep it ideal in your account for at-least 25 days.

4. Then redirect the whole domain (registrant level redirection) to inner page of your money site (For example, you can create a "Acquired" landing page at moneysite[dot]com/acquired and use interlinks to pass the link juice to your main articles)

5. Typically it takes 2-3 weeks to see the effect of this 301 redirection method.

6. Do not buy any domains which has more than 2 drops. Use Whoxy to check no of drops.

While doing keyword research a lot of people are still looking at Difficulty Score from Ahrefs, KwFinder, etc.
STOP LOOKING AT THOSE NUMBERS.
They can never tell you the keyword competition. They cannot even give an idea about keyword competition.
Instead of looking at those scores, you can check the following metrics. (The more time you give in keyword research the better it will be for you.)
1. Look at top 10 search results. Check if you can see new blogs (less than 14-15 months) ranking on page 1 or not. (SEOQUAKE Extension can help you fasten this process)
2. See if the content on page 1 results is weak/thin or on-point. If you plan to come with similar content you will end up spending a lot of time in ranking that page.
3. Whether Quora, Pinterest, and such forums are ranking or not?? If yes, can they be replaced?? Many times, people see Pinterest/youtube results on page 1 and assume that such pages can be outranked. Well, it is not always true. It also depends on what the keyword intent is!! If the keyword asks for wallpapers, videos, images, etc then such sites cannot be easily outranked.
4. Check backlink stats of the pages ranking on first page. It shall give you an idea.
5. Always go atleast upto page 3 of search results. This gives you a broader view about the keyword competition. Many times, you may see the first page with some new blogs but upon going to 2nd 3rd page of Google, you will find many sites targeting the exact same keyword. "Keyword research actually starts from later pages (2 and onwards) of Google Search Results". That's what I say and follow.
6. Even after you come to a conclusion that the kw is easy, you should immediately think whether you can deliver what the keyword asks for. For example, if a keyword asks for Live streaming, then can you deliver? If no, then your ranking will not be permanent, anyone with a proper delivery can outrank you without backlinks.
7. See the date of 1st page ranked sites. Updated and new content is preferred, but again it is not always the case. For example, If you search for some health keywords (not generic ones) you will see old page ranking and despite many people targeting the same kw, those old pages won't be outranked easily.
Overall a lot have to be observed while doing keyword research. This itself is an art and you can discover this art only when you start completing a process from researching to ranking. If you haven't ranked keywords and you know how to do keyword research, then I would doubt on your research capability.
When you start ranking kewyords, observe the same points (mentioned above) and you will see a clearer picture and this will 100% help you in keyword research.
Always remember, its you who decide the number of backlinks needed to rank your site. ;) Pick simple keywords and you won't need links, pick tough ones and you may end up spending a lot on links.
