Europe is in fear. Some are afraid of an uncertain future, some are afraid of terrorism, some are afraid of Europe going all-nazi again. These disputes hold no value. It serves no purpose in solving the refugee crisis. Less talk, more action, please. We, Carla and Heli have taken up to spread awareness of one solution that has the power to resolve the situation - education. Our goal is to raise fu
nds for Keciƶren refugees' school in Ankara, Turkey. It's a beginning. We aim to inspire other communities in Europe to follow Kecioren's initiative, to follow Norway and provide these people education. They need it. We need it. We want to include UNICEF, Amnesty International, WHO, OXFAM, UN, Red Cross and many more to focus on solutions. We want to inspire you to start your own local initiative in the city you live. Together we can make a change. Why the SOFA, you ask? It's a burden to travel with something that normally is rarely moved. Like most people, leaving home is a rare occasion, often very emotional. Leaving for good can be painful. It's a big change and we, people need to feel secure. Sometimes the security is in our memories, sometimes it's an emotional bond. The sofa represents the struggle the refugees have gone through travelling. It is their memories, their families left behind or lost and the fear of unknowing what is yet to come. It is something that holds them back. It's a burden. Why Building Bridges For Refugee Children was born?
- To give access to education to children who cannot afford the local transport to attend a proper school;
- To integrate these children and their families in Turkish society;
- To prevent children from begging, entering criminality and being exploited in child labor. We hitchhike from Ankara, Turkey to Vienna, Austria, passing by 25 locations to hold local community meetups. We have taken a month for it. it's going to be an emotional roller-coaster. All for education.
