Decomposed body handed over by the police.
Terrence Gobin, 53, of Bartica, was murdered on Tuesday, April 28, while working in the interior at Duquary Landing (Butterfly Backdam). He was reportedly struck on the head, fell, and died. The suspect is still on the run.
His family is now left not only grieving but also struggling for basic answers and dignity. There is no proper morgue facility nearby. Police indicated they did not have enough ice to preserve the body. When the body was brought out, it was already decomposed.
His daughter noted that she was constantly checking with the police at Bartica Station and was told repeatedly that the body was โon the way."
This situation highlights serious failures.
Additionally, the family is seeking answers from the dredge owner where Mr. Gobin last worked. His daughter can be reached on 6638397.

Her remarks align with the repeated calls WIN has made for urgent international attention and highlight the fundamental democratic principle that all elected representatives must be allowed to perform their constitutionally mandated duties.
The time for action has long passed. The continued failure to convene Parliament and elect a Leader of the Opposition is not accidental, but a deliberate stalling of democratic process that denies the people of Guyana the representation and accountability they voted for.
Any further delay is a willful obstruction of democratic governance, a misuse of authority, and a direct affront to the constitutional order. WIN therefore calls on the Speaker of the House to act without further delay, honour constitutional obligations, and put the interests of the people first.
We Invest in Nationhood stands ready to move Guyana forward.

Sincere condolences ๐ to the families and friends of Ms. Latoya Griffith.
Mother died in childbirth; her newborn baby died shortly after at New Amsterdam Hospital.
The authorities are trying to keep it quiet.
It is with profound sadness that we mourn the death of Latoya Griffith, who tragically lost her life during childbirth last Thursday, November 20, 2025. The 36-year-old mother from Gibraltar Village leaves to mourn three children, who must now navigate their lives without the loving guidance of a mother. Her newborn baby also passed away shortly after her. This is a heartbreaking loss that compounds her family's grief.
WIN extends condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones. The loss of two family members is a pain that no family should have to endure. We hope that Ms. Griffith's death sparks meaningful change in the health sector.
Reports indicate that the government is attempting to suppress this story, as the president and other cabinet members were in the region that very day, engaging in leisure activities while we are facing serious issues such as maternal death. In this oil-rich nation, no woman should lose her life while giving birth, especially with new hospitals opening and upgrades promised for existing ones.
Latoyaโs death serves as a painful reminder of the urgent need to strengthen maternal healthcare services all across Guyana and to ensure that every woman has access to safe, reliable, and compassionate care. It is time Minister Frank Anthony is awakened from his slumber. Minister Vindya Persaud, please ensure her family receives the necessary support during this difficult time.
WIN calls for improved facilities, better resources, and stronger support systems so that preventable deaths like this never happen.
