Since our hobby isn't just about scales,plastics and paints, let's say a few words about the squadron.
The Normandie-Niemen was a legendary unit of French volunteer fighter pilots who fought alongside the Soviet Red Army on the Eastern Front against N**i Germany from 1943 to 1945. Created by General Charles de Gaulle, leader of the Free French Forces, who believed it was crucial for French forces to fight on the Eastern Front.
Combat Record: The squadron (later a regiment) was highly successful, recording 273 confirmed victories and 300+ enemy aircraft damaged or probably destroyed.
The "Niemen" Name: In 1944, Stalin gave the unit the honorary title "Niemen" for their bravery during the battle to cross the Niemen River in Lithuania.
It was the only Western Allied unit to fight in the Soviet-German theater, and the only one to serve until the end of the war.
Stalin allowed the pilots to fly their Soviet Yakovlev Yak-3 fighters back to France in June 1945.
Four pilots were named Heroes of the Soviet Union, and the unit was highly decorated by both nations.

Once I finish my second F-15, I'm going to start building this legend, the Yak-3.
