Poison Tango

Seriousness is good and all and I love observing the faces of people as they sink inward within the embrace but there’s an enchanting pull to watching people dance and laugh and be goofy. To me it feels just as introverted since the humour that is bubbling up in the surface has been cultivated in the bond within.

They say the eyes never lie - as much as it is fascinating to follow the complex movements of dancers, I tend to to try to zoom in on their faces a lot. An attempt to catch their expression, sometimes turned inward with their eyes closed, other times with a gaze that seems to me to be lost beneath any superficial feeling.

Something (slightly) different - sometimes I take my film camera with me in milongas. The process is less controlled and the outcome certainly more unexpected. The shots more flawed than perfect. And that is precisely what I love about them.

Ah, perhaps drowning in AI slop is making me overly sentimental over them.

One of the true benefits of living in Athens is that one gets to see shows from many different artists. And this one couple I had been waiting for a chance to see them live for quite some time. Ayelén Urrutia and Martin Vicente at milonga El Cabeceo. Watching them dance was truly a pleasure.
