The Trump administration has introduced new visa guidelines allowing U.S. consular officers to deny entry to foreign applicants who are overweight or have chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, or mental illness. The rule, framed under the “public charge” policy, aims to prevent individuals who might become a financial burden on U.S. taxpayers due to long-term medical care. Critics, however, say it discriminates against people based on their health status rather than their actual financial situation.
