As part of the First + II project, in collaboration with Capital Plus Exchange and the Mastercard Foundation, we are proud to support Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) in enhancing the credit appraisal skills of their teams. CDC Consult, acting as an implementing partner, recently facilitated a two-day training session with Pan African Savings and Loans, focusing on credit staff and supervisors—especially those serving clients under the Mama programme, a women-focused initiative that combines financial services with business skills training and health support to empower female entrepreneurs. The training emphasized practical application of the 5 Cs of credit (Character, Capacity, Capital, Collateral, and Conditions) and demonstrated how these principles can be effectively leveraged to strengthen portfolio quality and improve decision-making. Equipping financial institutions with the right tools and knowledge is essential for building resilient, inclusive, and financially empowered communities.
