The spectacular Edina (Elmina) Bakatue Festival Regatta is a colorful cultural display held in Elmina, Central Region, as a focal point of the annual Bakatue celebrations. It typically features vibrant canoe races, beautifully decorated boats, and lively crowds gathered along the historic Benya Lagoon.

Because "Bakatue" translates to "the draining of the lagoon," the festival and regatta mark the traditional opening of the fishing season and offer thanksgiving for a prosperous year ahead. The week-long event blends sacred rituals—such as the paramount chief casting the traditional net into the lagoon—with modern entertainment, cultural dances, and boat cruises.
