We are inviting all University of Sheffield students to a free screening of “Savages”. The film explores themes of deforestation and Indigenous land rights.

“This beautiful, funny and heartwarming film from an award-winning director is about a young girl’s quest to rescue a baby orangutan from loggers in the jungles of Borneo.”

This screening is in support of the “Planet over Profit” campaign pushing for a new UK law to hold UK companies legally responsible for preventing harm to forests, wildlife, and communities in their supply chains.

The screening is from 7pm to 10pm on Thursday the 26th March 2026 in the Nelson Mandela Auditorium in Sheffield Students Union and includes a Q&A!

The itinerary is as follows:
7:30pm - Film Screening
9:00pm - Q&A panel session featuring and
10:00pm - End

Mid-term Change Lab update!

We have two updates from our Sheffield Community Land Trust action group and our Herb Biodiversity Action group.

This week our SCLT group held a session with Ranmoore Rainbows! They discussed community, shared spaces and used their workshop materials to engage with the group and educate the kids about community land.

Herb have also been up to a lot out in the community, helping out and getting involved with gardening activities at herb. The project they are focusing on currently is designing new bins storage, and through engaging with local residents they have managed to get residents to agree to new green roofed storage bins, the group are in the process off designing these and making them themselves.

Well done to all our change lab groups for all your hard work.
We are looking forward to seeing what the other groups are getting up to this semester!

It was great to see all of you at the Change Lab Refresh session at the start of February 😊

There were inter-group discussions about students experiences of change making and local community work, and their achievements being apart of change lab!

Afterwards our partner organisations arrived and discussed their projects and timeline.

Finally the groups discussed their final outputs for the year.

Thank you all for attending, we’ve got some exciting events coming up in the next month so keep an eye out for these
