We are a not-for-profit residential care home for elderly individuals who are unable to, or have chosen not to, maintain a home of their own. Costa del Ridgegate! ☀️
We’re going to be taking it easy this week folks.
For your reassurance we’ll be monitoring room temperatures, pushing fluids / ice lollies, have numerous fans in place and will be extra vigilant in regards to any changes to health.
It will probably be too hot to enjoy our garden much, but we’ll try for an early evening if our residents are up to it.
The health and welfare of our residents and team is the priority, so you’ll be seeing relaxed uniform across the team and frequent hydration breaks.
Enjoy it guys, and stay cool & safe!

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful men in our Ridgegate family 💙
Today, we’re thinking of our residents, their families, our colleagues, and all the dads, grandads, and father figures who have played such an important part in our lives.
Many of our residents have spent a lifetime caring for and supporting their families, sharing wisdom, creating memories, and passing down traditions that continue through the generations. Today is a chance to celebrate them, and to remember and honour the fathers who came before them too.
To all the men who have guided, supported, protected, encouraged, and loved their families in their own way – thank you.
Here’s to you, your dads, and all those who will follow in your footsteps.
Wishing you a very happy Father’s Day from everyone at Ridgegate Care Home. 💙

Well… it turns out we got our dates a little mixed up and are a whole week late celebrating the King’s Birthday! 👑😂
Better late than never, though!
Today we watched a livestream of Trooping the Colour, Lea made some delicious “birthday” cakes in honour of His Majesty, and we had lots of laughs trying on royal family face masks. 🇬🇧🎂
It may not have been the right weekend, but we still had a wonderful time celebrating our King in true royal style!
Happy (slightly belated!) King’s Birthday from us! 👑🎉

⚽🏆 World Cup at Ridgegate! 🏆⚽
Yesterday, we got ourselves fully prepared for England’s first World Cup game 🏴🇭🇷 with decorations up, flags flying, and excitement building throughout the home
As most of us weren’t quite able to stay up for the match, we decided to host our very own watch party today instead!
Our morning was packed with football fun ⚽💪 as we practised our passing, catching, throwing, and even a few headers! We also enjoyed some armchair exercises, waving imaginary flags, stretching tall like goalkeepers 🥅, and doing our best “keepy uppies” with our legs
Next came a challenging round of “Name That Flag” 🌍 featuring all 48 World Cup qualifying nations - definitely not an easy task
After lunch, we gathered in the lounge, dimmed the lights, turned up the volume, and settled in for kick-off 📺⚽. And what a game it was!
Our residents were fully immersed, cheering and celebrating every goal 🥳⚽🏴, striking their best victory poses, and singing along to football favourites including Sweet Caroline, Chelsea Dagger, and Hey Jude 🎶🎤
To make the occasion even more special, everyone enjoyed a football-themed goodie bag filled with popcorn 🍿, sweets 🍬, and chocolates 🍫, alongside a drink of Foster’s 🍺, wine 🍷, or lemonade 🥤
Ivy baked some delicious cupcakes decorated with the England flag 🧁they went down a treat!
Following England’s fantastic 4–2 victory 🏴🏆, we rounded off the day with a fun “Match the Cuisine to the Country” quiz 🌎🍽️
A big thank you to all the team members who helped bring this wonderful day together ❤️. What an occasion, and what brilliant memories we made!
Tell us in the comments:
📍 Where did you watch the game?
🍽️ Can you guess what England’s “cuisine” was in our quiz?

This week (15th–21st June) is Men’s Health Week💙
At Ridgegate Home, we’re proud to support the health and wellbeing of all the men in our community - our wonderful residents, our dedicated male colleagues, and men everywhere.
As we age, small steps can make a big difference. From staying active and eating well, to keeping connected and attending regular health checks - it all matters.
Most importantly, we want to remind everyone that it’s okay to ask for help! Looking after your health - both physical and mental - is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Let’s continue to look after the men in our lives - this week and every week 💙

✨ Wish Upon a Star at Ridgegate ✨
At the beginning of the month, we launched our “Wish Upon a Star” initiative. Each of our residents was given a star and invited to write down a wish – absolutely anything they wanted!
There was plenty of laughter as wishes ranged from “Dancing with Patrick Swayze” to “Going to the pub” and “Wanting to jive again.” Some wishes were more heartfelt and sentimental, including “I wish I could see my husband again” and “I wish I could walk and run like I used to.”
The conversations that followed were truly special. We shared so many wonderful memories, stories, and hobbies from years gone by. It was both heartwarming and humbling, reminding us how easily we can take everyday abilities for granted – even something as simple as running up the stairs.
Our aim is to make as many of our residents’ wishes come true as possible, and we’re delighted to say we’ve started strong by granting Ann’s wish!
Ann wished for a pet cat… so we gave her two! 🐱🐱
Folks, we’d like to introduce the two newest members of the Ridgegate family!
To make the occasion even more special, Clem got into the spirit of things and lovingly decorated our afternoon tea cupcakes as little cats to celebrate. 🧁🐱 The residents absolutely loved them, and they were the perfect addition to such a memorable day. 🥹
The majority of the Ridgegate family are absolutely delighted with their new furry friends. A few residents and team members would prefer to admire them from a distance 😅🫣, but overall we are thrilled to welcome pets into our home.
Be sure to say hello to our newest residents when you next visit! ❤️

May was a fantastic month for recognition and celebration at Ridgegate! 🎉
Each month, every member of the team nominates a colleague for our Employee of the Month award. Once the votes are counted, the team member with the most nominations is crowned Ridgegate’s Employee of the Month and receives a certificate, a badge, and an Amazon gift card as a small token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
Alongside this, our manager, Kelly, selects her own Ridgegate Stars, recognising outstanding performances, achievements, and moments that truly make a difference. In May, we were delighted to celebrate six Ridgegate Stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Of course, we may be a little biased, but we genuinely have an incredible team. Their dedication, compassion, professionalism, and sense of fun shine through every day. While every member of the team contributes something special, we believe it’s important to take the time to recognise those standout moments and achievements.
A message from our manager, Kelly:
“I am so lucky to work alongside such a committed and caring team. You take your roles seriously and always ensure best practice, while bringing so much fun, kindness, and compassion into the daily lives of our residents and colleagues. Teamwork really does make the dream work, and you are the very best. Thank you all so much!”
A huge congratulations to all of our winners and nominees, and a heartfelt thank you to the entire team for everything you do.
Well done, Team Ridgegate! 👏💙

🌤️💛 Making the most of every sunny spell! 💛🌤️
Between the showers this week, our wonderful team members Gemma, Lacey and Clem have been helping residents get out and about to enjoy some fresh air, sunshine and a healthy dose of Vitamin D! ☀️🌳
There’s always plenty of fun to be had on our walks, especially when we stop for a chat with local residents and their four-legged friends. 🐾❤️
On Wednesday they were delighted to meet the lovely Poppy and her owner. At 13 years young, Poppy completely stole their hearts! 🐶🥰 With her little tongue sticking out the whole time, she had everyone smiling and laughing.
The visit sparked some lovely memories, with Sarah reminiscing about the guinea pigs she used to have as pets and sharing stories from years gone by. 🐹💭
As for our lovely Ian, he spent part of the walk worrying that the gusty wind might blow him away! 🌬️😂 Thankfully, we’re pleased to report that Ian stayed firmly grounded and made it safely back home!
A huge thank you to Gemma, Lacey and Clem for helping our residents enjoy the outdoors, connect with the local community and make the most of the brighter moments between the rain. 🌈💚
Sometimes it’s the simplest things - a friendly face, a wagging tail and a breath of fresh air - that bring the biggest smiles. 😊☀️

🇫🇷✨ Bonjour from Paris! ✨🇫🇷
Yesterday our residents enjoyed another wonderful themed day and armchair travel adventure as we packed our passports and boarding passes and set off for the beautiful country of France! 🛫🧳
After “touching down” in Paris, we enjoyed a virtual tour of some of the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the world-famous Louvre. 🗼🎨
Sue then hosted a fantastic quiz all about France, testing our knowledge and sparking lots of conversation. Those of us who have been lucky enough to visit France shared stories and memories from our travels, bringing back plenty of wonderful nostalgia. ❤️
Meanwhile, our talented chef Lea was busy creating a véritable feast! 👩🍳🇫🇷 We enjoyed a delicious lunch of Beef Bourguignon, Bistro French Salad and Pain au Chocolat. For supper, we tucked into warmed ham and cheese croissants, followed by a wonderful cheese board featuring a selection of French cheeses. C’était magnifique! 🧀🥐🍷
It was a true team effort from both our residents and staff, and together we had a magnifique day full of fun, laughter and French flair. 🇫🇷✨
Merci beaucoup to everyone who helped make our trip to Paris so special. Until our next adventure… au revoir! 👋🇫🇷
