I read this and it struck a bit of a chord with me.
Do we actually prepare kids to be entrepreneurs or just to go through the machine of school, college, uni, job?

I’ve worked with kids who worried about what to why can achieve because they struggle academically.

It’s stories like these that should offer another angle or another approach to being a success and being happy.

I wonder how many kids would thrive and be enthused by entrepreneurs visiting their schools or home ed environments?

Yes, the education system has a place and many young people with a career in mind which requires a degree should be encouraged and supported 100%. Equally, there are kids who go to uni because ‘it’s the right thing to do’ and end up in debt and not working in the field they studied hard in.

Food for thought 🧩

A 21-year-old man who turns over £280,000 of revenue a month by reselling clothes said he was “always adamant” he would “never need grades” to succeed in life🤑👏.

Robbie Cartwright, who had a working-class upbringing in West Yorkshire, always had a natural instinct for business. He started reselling items when he was just eight years old.

While teachers and career advisors in high school tried to steer him toward traditional pathways like accounting or sales, Robbie knew he was meant for entrepreneurship—believing he would "never need grades" to make a success of his life. 🏫❌

After successfully expanding his resale business across Instagram and TikTok, Robbie took a gamble in 2023 by renting a three-floor physical shop in Huddersfield for £600 a month to host exclusive pop-up drops. However, his business truly sky-rocketed when he pivoted to the live-streaming auction app Tilt in December 2024.

By June 2026, his monthly revenue reached an incredible £280,000, with almost £220,000 of that sum generated purely from live, highly interactive digital auctions. 📱📈

To keep up with high demand, Robbie routinely buys high-value items, once paying £25,000 for a luxury Rolex watch. He ended up selling it on stream for £23,000. Even though he took a loss on that specific deal, Robbie admitted he was simply "mesmerised" by the platform's raw power to bring in a year's salary in just four minutes.

Reflecting on the pressure for young people to take on student debt for degrees they don't want, Robbie shared, "I think entrepreneurship is something which isn't encouraged. But if people have a passion, like having a business – whether you make money or not – it is probably one of the best educations you could ever give yourself." 🎓💡

Today, Robbie employs up to eight staff members to run his rapidly expanding operation. He added: “I’ve had an interest in something and I followed it, and it managed to turn into a business.

“Now I get to do something every day in my life on my own terms.”

Our secondary provision has been designed with older children in mind.

Many young people tell us they don't want to spend the holidays doing "school activities" - they want somewhere to belong, relax, build confidence and spend time with people who understand them.

So that's exactly what we've created.

We'd also encourage any family who feels their child would benefit from our HAF provision to apply, even if you don't think you're eligible under the standard criteria.

Alongside our funded HAF places, we have access to a limited number of additional spaces for families who may not ordinarily qualify. These places are allocated subject to availability and funding, so it's always worth submitting an application or contacting us for a conversation.

Does your child find large subtraction calculations tricky?

I’ve seen this method posted online and quite like how simple it is for subtractions from a multiple of 1000.

4000-2613 =

Step 1: Take 1 away from 4000 to make 3999

Step 2: Set out the calculation in columns

Visually this is so much easier to complete.

Step 3: Working from right to left:

* Ones: 9 − 3 = 6
* Tens: 9 − 1 = 8
* Hundreds: 9 − 6 = 3
* Thousands: 3 − 2 = 1

Remember the 1 we took away at the beginning?! Add that back on to 1386 to make 1387

Final answer is 4000-2613=1,387

This works for multiples of 100, 1000, 10,000 and so on.

ADVICE vs ADVISE

One letter. Two completely different words. Do you know the difference between “advice” and “advise”?

This is one of the most common mix-ups in written English, and it trips up students and adults alike.

Advice is a noun — it is the opinion or suggestion itself.
Example: “The teacher gave her student some great advice before the exam.”

Advise is a verb — it is the act of giving that recommendation.
Example: “The teacher would advise her student to review notes the night before.”

A simple way to remember it: you give advice when you advise someone.

Teachers, this is worth a few minutes of class time. A quick discussion around these two words can sharpen how students write emails, essays, and even job applications one day. Parents, next time your child is writing a paper, ask them which one they mean — noun or verb? It makes them think twice.
