Looking for the perfect day trip destination to add to your Scottish itinerary? We caught a spectacular glimpse of heritage in motion today at Boat of Garten station, watching a classic steam locomotive glide past with its beautiful vintage carriages. π
The engine pulling the coaches today was none other than British Railways engine number 46512. This historic machine is an authentic LMS Ivatt Class 2 MT 2-6-0 steam locomotive, a legendary class of engine affectionately known by rail enthusiasts as a "Mickey Mouse". Seeing it in its immaculate lined black livery, complete with the iconic British Railways emblem, is like stepping directly into a living history museum. π²π€οΈ
There is nothing quite like the nostalgic whistle, the hiss of the steam, and the majestic sight of British Railways history rolling along the tracks. It is a fantastic reminder of the timeless engineering and incredible heritage preserved beautifully right on our doorstep.
