Due to a power cut caused by Friday’s thunderstorm, tonight’s Lore Screening (And the 48 Hour Film Challenge) at 6pm has been postponed.

The The venue team has worked tirelessly over the past couple of days and has done everything within their power to resolve these issues in time for tonight’s screening. We want to emphasise how hard they have worked behind the scenes to try and make this event go ahead as planned. Regrettably, despite their best efforts, the necessary repairs could not be completed in time, and the equipment is not yet in a suitable condition for a proper screening experience.

The screening will now take place on 12th July. Tickets remain valid for the new date, but if you can’t make it, just drop us a email at [email protected] for a refund.

We’re really sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

*RESCHEDULED TO THE 12th JULY*

Fear Screen is bringing Lore to the big screen in Roxy Movies Middlesbrough for a special screening and Q&A.

Lore is the debut feature from Sea & Sky Pictures, an independent production company based in Hartlepool, North East England. Despite its regional roots, the team consistently delivers work that punches well above its weight, producing bold, ambitious projects across film and digital platforms.

Founded in February 2020 by Adam Bouabda as a more mature evolution of his earlier venture, Couch Potato Films, Sea & Sky Pictures has gone on to produce scripted comedy, BFI-funded short films, a wide range of online content, and now its first feature-length release.
Adam leads all scripted development and production for the company, while also working across unscripted projects. A graduate of The Northern Shool of Art (Class of 2015) with a first-class honours degree in Creative Film and Moving Image Production, he brings both technical expertise and creative vision to his work.

For this event, Adam Bouabda will be joining us in person for a live Q&A session. This is a great opportunity to gain insight into independent filmmaking whether you are interested in starting your own production company, developing your own horror projects, or simply want to learn more about the making of Lore.

The event is open to ages 15 and above.

Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis, starting from just £1, making this an accessible opportunity for anyone interested in film, horror, or the creative industries.

Join us this Sunday 12th July and experience Lore as it was meant to be seen.

🏳️‍🌈 Happy Pride Month from Fear Screen! 🖤

June is here, and that means it’s Pride Month and we at Fear Screen are celebrating loud and proud.

Horror has always been a genre that speaks to the outsider, the misunderstood, the misfit and for decades, q***r audiences have found themselves reflected in its shadows. From the monstrous to the sublime, horror has given voice to those who live on the margins, and that bond between the LGBTQ+ community and the genre we love runs deep.

This month, we want to celebrate that connection. Q***r horror is thriving filmmakers and storytellers are crafting work that is bold, visceral, and beautifully, unapologetically q***r. Whether it’s q***r directors pushing the boundaries of the form, LGBTQ+ characters at the heart of the terror, or stories rooted in the real world fears of marginalised communities this is the kind of cinema Fear Screen lives for.

Fear Screen is a safe, welcoming space for everyone. No matter who you are, who you love, or how you identify if you love horror, you belong here. 🏳️‍⚧️🖤

This Pride Month, we encourage you to seek out q***r horror, champion LGBTQ+ filmmakers, and celebrate the community that has always found power and solace in the dark.

From all of us at Fear Screen Happy Pride. Stay scary.

📢 An important update from Fear Screen, please take a moment to read this one.

First things first: we owe you an apology. Communication from our end has been poor over the last few weeks, and that's not good enough. We're sorry.

We want to be honest with you rather than just go quiet and pretend everything's fine. Simon and I both work full-time in HETV and major studio film production it's never been a secret, and it's actually what shapes so much of what Fear Screen is. But that work is unpredictable, demanding, and when a production calls, you go. There's no negotiating with a shoot schedule.

Fear Screen runs almost entirely on our own money. No salaries, no grants, no comfortable pot of funding just two people who genuinely love horror cinema and believe the North East deserves something special, putting their wages where their mouth is. Most independent festivals don't reach sustainability until year five or six. We're not there yet, but we're building, and we're not going anywhere.

Now the 48 Hour Film Challenge. 🎬
We had dozens of sign-ups, which was brilliant to see. We only received two completed films but honestly? The judges say both are absolutely outstanding. Simon and I are going to watch them tonight and we can't wait to see them. These filmmakers delivered something genuinely impressive under a brutal deadline, and they deserve to be celebrated.

We were originally planning a cinema screening on 20th May alongside a feature film Q&A, but unfortunately the cast had scheduling changes and we had to pull it. We're now targeting the week commencing 22nd June for a full cinema showcase with a live stream and we'll be announcing the winner later this week, so keep your eyes on this page. 👀

To everyone who took part, supported us, or has simply stuck around, thank you. It means everything.

We'll be back in touch very soon. We promise to do better. 🖤

You get 48 hours and you walk away with something real.
