You can’t park there, mate 👀

A drink-driver has been disqualified and sentenced to community service, after he crashed his car into hedges in Buxted.

He is among the latest seven people to be convicted in court following our Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-driving:

• Michael Simkins, 48, unemployed, of no fixed address
• Yeganeah Ghorbu, 21, a student, of Nesbitt Road, Brighton
• Shahzaib Ahmed, 30, a housing property manager, of The Heights, Brighton
• Tzoi Papa, 26, a restauranteur, of Shelldale Road, Portslade
• Caltrava Recioy, 28, a cleaner, of Pevensey Road, Eastbourne
• Sonny Banks, 40, a carpet fitter, of Manor Road, Rustington

❗️The government has announced its first Road Safety Strategy in over a decade❗️

The strategy plans to reduce deaths and serious injuries on Britain’s roads by 65% (by 2035).

Thousands of people suffer life-changing injuries each year, and 4 people die each day as a result of drink-driving in the UK.

The current drink-drive limit in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is set to 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath, making it one of the highest in Europe.

With a tighter drink-drive limit of 22 micrograms set for England and Wales, this will bring them inline with Scotland, which cut its drink-drive limit in 2014.

Within this new strategy, it also looks at convicted drink-drivers having alcohol interlocks fitted to their vehicles, as well as suspended driving licenses for those who are suspected of drink or drug-driving offences.

What are your thoughts on this proposed new Road Safety Strategy 🤔

Our advice has been and always will be – Do Not Drink and Drive ❌
